Well Wishes for the Future
Created for Elevate Atlanta
In the fall of 2014, I transformed a city dumpster into a wishing well. Commissioned by the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs for Elevate—Atlanta’s downtown public art celebration—I reimagined an industrial container as a sacred, social space.
The project, Well Wishes for the Future of an Ever-Growing Metropolis, invited people to answer the prompt: "This is your Atlanta. What is your wish?" Over 843 handwritten messages were collected in just seven days—on business cards, napkins, receipts, and torn notebook scraps. It became a poetic archive of Atlanta's collective future longings.
The piece reflected the Elevate 2014 theme “Social City”, asking: how can art encourage deeper human connection in a rapidly expanding metropolis?
